Joomla Website: Build in an Hour

Login

Supposing the website address to be www.xxx.com, one has to type www.xxx.com/administrator to reach the joomla login page. One can then simply log in by typing the username and the password.

Section

Creation of a section is the next step after login. For this the homepage icon called ‘the section manager’ has to be clicked for creation of a new section. Sections can be added or edited with the help of the section manager. The section to be edited can be selected from the menu or it can be done with a click on the section. The ‘New’ button is to be clicked for adding a new section. The ‘new’ button on clicking first opens the section editor. There a section name and title can be chosen to be added. Some introductory text can also be added here. The section editor also allows helps in adding an associated image intended for the section.

Category

The step is same as above except that the ‘Category Manager’ icon has to be clicked and the categories can be edited or added in the desired way with the help of the ‘Category Manager’. A category can also be moved from one section of the Category Manager’ to another.

Content

Adding content is the next step after creating or adding the sections and categories. Here again the icon ‘Content Items Manager’ can be used to decide on which article or content to appear on the website and whether they are to be made visible on the front page or otherwise.

Separate Section for Prominence

Supposing the subject of the website to be athletics, different sections can be created featuring different athletes. For example, a section called ‘Carl Lewis’ can be created to with different categories like 100 meters run, 200 meters run, long jump, etc. There can then be content items in the form of articles on these separate categories. For instance, the website can be uploaded with articles on the 100 meters running performance and records of Carl Lewis. Likewise separate contents can be posted to highlight the other areas of the athletics achievements of Carl Lewis during his sporting career.
