For web publishing and CMS, many open source software is available like the phpbb, wordpress, mambo and joomla. Of these mambo and joomla are considered to offer one of the best services in SEO. It is to be noted that mambo joomla by default is not enabled with much of SEO features. No keyword benefit is given by them from content and they can just make the URL more friendly to facilitate taking down by the search engine. The content page URL after turning on of the default SEO in mambo joomla has a look like www.xxx.com/section/cat/id.

Lacking Keyword 

Mambo joomla lack the major SEO advantage of keyword in URL. However this deficiency can easily be overcome with certain solutions. Some open source or commercial components like OpenSEF and 404Advanced can enable the URL to look like www.domain.com/section/category/content_title.html.
 

Advantage over Wordpress

On the face of it wordpress and blogger appear to have same features as found in mambo joomla and available at lesser efforts. There can be little doubt that wordpress and blogger have more SEO friendly URL with easier use and publishing. However during the publishing they are unable to edit the meta tags of keywords of every individual page. Like they cannot describe meta tags for each published page, blogger or wordpress also do not have the ability to specify keywords. One can with them only edit the templates for defining the global meta tags. With mambo and joomla the advantage lies in their feature that allows the user to define their meta tags just at the time the page is edited. In case the user does not know how to define the meta tags, it only requires the page title to be included as meta keywords. This positive feature in joomla or mambo gives them an edge over wordpress or blogger. 

Limitations

The URL features should have been provided by default to make mambo and joomla more search engine friendly. The CMS site can only be hosted on apache server with enabling conditions that are pre-specified. Mambo or joomla cannot find out by the title of the article in URL. To achieve this the core mambo joomla has to take support of other available open source solutions.
